AUSTIN, Texas (Reuters) - Texas Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst conceded defeat on Tuesday to Tea Party favorite Ted Cruz in the Texas Republican U.S. Senate runoff election. The outcome was a stunning upset after the longtime Texas lawmaker Dewhurst finished first in a crowded field during the initial round of primary voting in May, but failed to win a majority of the vote to avoid a runoff.
